Before I found my passion for UX Design (¬_¬")

Growing up Asian American, I had this mindset that my parents wanted me to pursue a career in healthcare so I graduated from the University of Washington with a major in Biology. Throughout school, I used art as a stress reliever, from drawing, to painting, and to photography. Everyone and even myself considered me as a creative.

Fast forward to graduation, I ended up at a job in the healthcare field where I was in the grey zone of being happy and being unhappy. So what did I do? I took the plunge and enrolled in a UX bootcamp. And let me tell you, it was worth it.

My experiences and how it helps me in my designs

My experience interacting with customers/patients and my degree in health studies has shaped me into the designer that I am today, which is analytical and logical. But also empathetic and human-centered. All of these together helps inform the design decisions that I make.

With my background in health, I’m able to take those skills that I gained from research and apply it to a different field. Instead of researching inanimate objects, I’m able to research using users and their experiences/thoughts. I love talking to users and understanding their perspectives. I am a naturally curious person so I will pick at the user’s brain until I am able to answer the most important question of why.
